DAY 01: (TUESDAY) ARRIVAL / NAUTA / BOARDING / MARAÑÓN RIVER

15:30 hrs. We advise you to take flight LA 2382 from Lima. In just 1 hour and 45 minutes, you will be at the heart of the Peruvian Amazonian region.

17:15 hrs. Upon your arrival at the airport, you will take an air-conditioned bus to Iquito's main port, where the Aqua cruise will be waiting for you. While you rest in your comfortable cabin, we will be shipping through Yanayacu river, in the depths of the Amazon. Before dinner, we will gather together on the upper deck to receive some important information about safety measures on board. Then, the Cruise Director and the naturalist guides will give a short presentation about life on board, the places we will visit and what we can see during our journey deep into the Amazon.

At 20:30 hrs. we will enjoy a real world-class meal, prepared by Executive Chef Pedro Miguel Schiaffino, whose restaurant Malabar is one of the best in Lima. Schiaffino's recipes, mixed with the imaginative use of local products -fruits, fish, spices-, makes every meal a delightful adventure. (The menu always offers choices, including a vegetarian option.) Then, we will make a toast to a beautiful journey. We advise you to sip a cocktail on the upper deck, under the stars, before retiring.

DAY 02: (WEDNESDAY) UCAYALI RIVER / MAGDALENA DE PUEBLO / PUINAHUA CHANNEL

At 06:30 hrs., when the sun is rising above the jungle, we will board the skiffs and sail through Ucayali river. As we sail, the naturalist guides will show us a wide range of species in the wildlife, especially around 09:30. After breakfast, we will visit the town of Madgalena, a small community of only ten families. After the visit, the naturalist guides will take us through the jungle to a lagoon, home to the famous Victoria Regia, the largest water lily. Then, we will have lunch.

16:00 hrs. We will continue our voyage along the majestic Ucayali river aboard our skiffs. You will have the chance to meet the native rafter fishermen. They will show us their skills and their catches, including a special kind of "armored" catfish (its skin is like a carapace). You will try this delicious fish at least once during dinner at the Aqua. You might as well spot some "banana rafters", loaded with hundreds of bananas on their way to the market. So have your cameras at hand, as well as your binoculars. You will not want to miss the woodpeckers, parrots, macaws and toucans. In the evening, enjoy a gourmet dinner. Why not sitting on the upper deck after dinner? You will have the opportunity to study the starry sky. This scene is only possible because there is no light pollution to compete against the stars. Totally breathtaking!

DAY 03: (THRUSDAY) PUINAHUA RIVER / HATUM POSA LAKE / PACAYA RIVER

At 08:30 hrs. we will go for a walk. The guides will introduce us to the locals. We will observe their daily activities and they will explain us how they learned to grow wild plants and trees to create revenue. As we get deep into the jungle, the guides will explain us about the invaluable contribution of fruit trees and medicinal plants of the jungle. They will even share some of their secrets with us. After lunch, we will take a break and rest in our suites. This will be an opportunity to see the world through the panoramic windows.

At 15:30 hrs. we will board the skiffs and sail through Pacaya river towards Yanayacu lake. There we will discover the lush wildlife secretly kept deep in the jungle. We have chosen this time of the day for you to observe the afternoon wildlife activity. Do not miss the chance to see some capuchin monkeys and howler monkeys. As the sun sets, you will listen carefully to the warning signs: ferocious high-pitched sounds made by the howler monkeys, marking their territory. When dark, you will hear a second symphony of the Amazonian rainforest, as some nocturnal animals make strident sounds across the treetops. We will use some torchlights to spot some of these nocturnal creatures, such as the caimans.

DAY 04: (FRIDAY) PACAYA RIVER / VISIT TO PUINAHUA VILLAGE

At 06:30 hrs. we will explore Pacaya river and have breakfast. Back in the skiffs, while the sun rises, we will discover a real wildlife treasure: parrots, macaws, toucans and many types of monkeys, as well as some "surprise" species you have never seen before. We will provide you a "breakfast bag" filled with light snacks and fresh fruit juice. We will make a stop near a feeding spot for dolphins, so you can enjoy the show while having breakfast. Then, we will go to a special place where we can fish. Fishing sticks and bait will be provided. You might catch one of the 3'000+ species of fish found the in the Amazonian river. Our main goal will be to catch a piranha, small carnivore fish, considered as a frightening good source of food by the locals. Our journey might be getting to an end, given that our luxurious new home is sailing near Iquitos. But it is not over yet! A new adventure will be waiting for you after lunch. At 16:00 there is an optional tour to a village near the river banks. This village is home to a group of fishermen and farmer friends and their families. Our guide will translate for us, while we interact with the locals. We will sail downstream towards Iquitos through the night. Minutes after being in a remote place surrounded by monkeys and birds, you will find yourself having a delicious gourmet banquet as farewell dinner. At 21:00 hrs. we will meet for the Crew Presentation. The Cruise Director will introduce some of the crew members whom you may not have met yet, but have worked "behind the scenes" to make sure you have an unforgettable experience. There might be some musical entertainment.

DAY 05: (SATURDAY) ARRIVAL AT IQUITOS - CITY TOUR AND TRANSFER TO THE AIRPORT

09:30 hrs. Morning excursion (this activity depends on the river's water level). If the weather allows it, we will see for the last time how the locals live along the Amazon. We will sail near the community Iquitos de Belén, whose houses and shops float on the river for a couple of months per year. We will see the traditional food market that supplies the whole Peruvian Amazon. All the region's inhabitants buy and sell their products here. Another option is to have a short visit to the indigenous community of Boras, on Momon river. The Bora tribe emerged from the deep jungle only 30 years ago. They are strongly committed to preserving their own traditional culture. They will show us some of their most flamboyant dances. You will have enough time to pack and get ready for the next activity. Light lunch. Please leave your packed suitcases in your suite for pickup before going to lunch. At 13:15 we will arrive at Iquitos, a town only accessible by boat or plane. We will visit the Manatee Rescue Center, where biologists and volunteers rehabilitate Amazonian manatees, endangered species, that environmental conservation authorities have seized from the local communities or fishermen. The biologists will make a short presentation about the project and their efforts to help these defenseless animals. You will see how the manatees are rehabilitated and prepared for their release back into the wild. At the end, we will make a stop at the Amazonian Indian market San Juan to buy some local crafts.

16:30 hrs. We will transfer you to Iquitos airport. Our crew will help you check in and stay with you until you have boarded your flight back to Lima.

All the activities are subject to change, due to climate conditions and other unforeseeable events. Please, confirm the availability of the tour with advance notice.
