At 06:30 hrs. we will begin this amazing adventure. We will transfer you by private transportation to Km. 82, in Piscacucho. We will be arriving at around 10:30. Once there, we will meet the crew, who will accompany us through this 4-day trekking. The first kilometers are easy and we will admire the view of La Verónica and Patallacta snowy mountains. We will arrive at Miskay, where we will rest and have lunch. Then, we will continue towards Wayllabamba, where we will have dinner and set up camp.
After a nice breakfast surrounded by nature, we will begin our trek towards the highest point in the Inca trail: Warmiwañusca (at 4'200 meters above sea level - 13'779 ft). From here, we will have a marvelous panoramic view of the Vilcabamba mountain range. We will have lunch and then walk down towards Pacaymayo valley, where we will enjoy a nice dinner and set up camp.
On day 04, we will visit the archaeological remains of Runquracay. En route, we will find a part of the Inca trail totally lined in stone. In fact, some sections are two meters wide. Along the path, we will observe the quality of the Inca architecture. We will visit Sayacmarca, a beautiful architectural complex. Then, we will walk across a tunnel to arrive at the archaeological site of Phuyupatamarca. Following an interesting 2-hour path, surrounded by thick vegetation near the jungle, rich in flora and fauna, we will arrive at Wiñayhuayna to have dinner and set up camp.
Very early in the morning, we will head to Intipunku (the Gate of the Sun) for us to see the first rays of light falling onto the magnificent citadel of Machu Picchu. On day 06, you will be free to choose your itinerary. You could take the opportunity to power up mystical energies around the citadel, such as hiking up Intipunku, also known as the Gate of the Sun, which is the door to Machu Picchu if you follow the Inca trail. Another option is to hike up Huayna Picchu, where you will find the Temple of the Moon. If you choose the latter, please consider that there are only 400 entrances per day available, so you will need to book in advance. We will have lunch at Belmond Sanctuary Lodge.
