We will pick you up at around 04:00 hrs. - 04:40 hrs. at your hotel. At 05:00 hrs. we will leave on a private bus to Mollepata, a small town at 2'850 meters above sea level (9'350 ft) with a warm climate thanks to its location near the jungle. Surrounding us, there will be some snowy mountains that are part of the Salkantay range. Their peaks reach 4'000 - 5'000 meters above sea level (13'123 - 16'404 ft). At around 07:00 hrs., we will be arriving at Mollepata, where we will admire the beautiful landscape and the Salkantay (at 6'200 meters above sea level - 20'341 ft) itself. Here we will begin our 7-to-8-hour trek into the jungle. After lunch, we will continue towards Soraypampa, where we will set up camp.
Prepare yourself for an impressive dawn facing the magnificent Salkantay. At 07:00 hrs. we will have breakfast and then we will continue with a 7-to-8-hour trek. En route, we will admire the ecosystem, the different altitudes and a sort of canyon, which will lead us to the foothills of the Salkantay. After lunch, we will continue our journey discovering the Salkantay. On our way down, we will arrive near the jungle, at Chaullay, where we will admire the landscape and spend the night.
Get ready for a new day, new landscapes and a new climate proper to the region's location. After breakfast, we will continue with our trek through valleys, where we will see different species of birds, mammals, insects, etc. We will have the opportunity to observe the everyday life of the locals and relax at Collpapampa's thermal baths and Waynapoco waterfalls. Then we will continue with a 4-to-6-hour trek towards Sahuayacu, where we will have lunch. Afterwards, we will take a bus to Santa Teresa, where we will spend the night.
After breakfast, we will do a 40-minute hike towards the Vilcanota's river banks, where will have to use the oroya (a cable river crossing). Then we will continue for about 3 hours until Hidroeléctrica train station, where we will admire Urubamba's valley, the mightily waterfall that originates from Machu Picchu mountain and the Northeastern side of Machu Picchu, which is the perfect spot to have lunch. After, we will visit the Intihuatana at Km. 121. At the end of our trek, we will wait for the train that will take us to Aguas Calientes, where we will spend the night.
Today is the big day: we will discover the Historic Sanctuary of Machu Picchu. At 06:00 hrs. we will take the bus up to Machu Picchu, where we will have a guided tour of approximately 2 hours.
