DAY 01: IQUITOS - LODGE (LUNCH AND DINNER INCLUDED)

We will start this adventure through the Peruvian rainforest at Iquitos' airport. We will transfer you to the town of Nauta, 97 km away from Iquitos. Duration: 1:30 hour. At Nauta, we will board Pacaya Samiria Amazon Lodge's boats to sail through the confluence of rivers Ucayali and Marañón: Ucamara confluence, river Amazon's source. We will sail to the Lodge, where we will be received with a complimentary fresh fruit juice. The staff will show us our rooms so we can leave our luggage and then have lunch. In the afternoon, we will study the local flora and fauna. On our way back, we will make a nocturnal excursion to spot the tiny dendrobates frogs, known for their eye-catching colors and poisonous nature. Some of the most famous species can even change colors during the day. At the end of the tour, we will return to the Lodge, where we will have dinner. Accommodations for the night.

At the end of the tour, we will return to the Lodge. We will visit the artisan women center of the San Jorge community, known for their works with chambira, a natural fiber (temporary site). In the afternoon, we will sail through Marañón river towards Cocha San Jacinto, another area of the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve. We will be received by a local surveillance group that works protecting the "paiche", the biggest freshwater fish in the world. We will sail on a canoe through Cocha San Jacinto with the group. We will be taught about the group's efforts and how to identify this fish in its natural habitat. We will also see some Victorias Regias, famous water lilies.
