Intipunku is located at 2,600 m. above sea level, on the flank of Machupicchu Mountain and was once the main entrance to Machu Picchu. This hike follows an original Inca Trail that steadily climbs though Machu Picchu’s agricultural terraces high in to the mountains directly south of the citadel. The ascent from the citadel and the return trip takes about two hours. The tour to the mountain will give you great view of the surroundings with spectacular photographic opportunities.
Intipunku (2'600 meters above sea level - 8'530 ft) is situated on Machu Picchu's flank. The hike up from Machu Picchu to Intipunku and the way back last approximately two hours. The path is not hard, but it is slightly inclined. The view is amazing and you will observe spectacular paths that you will want to photograph.
