LAKE TITICACA (Puno – La Paz)

Located on the Andean plateau, this region is dominated by Lake Titicaca, sacred place of the Incas and home to natural and artificial islands. There are pre-Hispanic archaeological sites with circular constructions that still go by their original name of “chullpas”. Its churches are characterized by their distinctive colonial architecture. Its inhabitants are proud of their Quechua and Aymara past, and their folkloric tradition that can be seen every year in the form of dances and rituals during the Candelaria festival. Puno is a legend, a multicolored festival, and home to natural and artificial islands.

DAY 01: PUNO - COPACABANA - ISLAND OF THE SUN - INTI WATA (LUNCH AND DINNER INCLUDED)

06:30 hrs. We will leave for the Sanctuary of Copacabana to board the Catamarán Cruise. We will have a snack on board. We will head to the Island of the Sun, cradle of the Inca empire. In this legendary island, we will visit its garden, the Inca stairs and the Fountain of the Inca. This tour includes the visit of the cultural complex of Inti Wata, the main private tourist attraction in Bolivia. The visit includes a tour through the underground museum of Ekako, the centers where native medicine is practiced and where reed rafts are built, the Pachamama terraces (where we will see Inca agriculture), a crafting center and the Intica refuge. We will see the widest range of Andean camelids in Mirador Manco Kapac. At Inti Wata, we will have the possibility of sailing on a traditional reed raft and enjoying a panoramic view of the Inca palace of Pilkokaina. Then, we will board again the Catamarán to go to Challapampa, an isolated small village north of the Island of the Sun, where you will have the opportunity to be in a half-day experiential tourist program. We will have a buffet lunch en route. Thanks to an innovative program prepared by them, Challapampa inhabitants receive the visitors and show them around. For instance, we will visit a typical house, their school, their chapel and a little museum (set up by themselves). We will be part of the folkloric demonstrations and we will sail aboard their typical fishing boats. The program also includes a trek along Inca paths to visit the Inca temple of La Chinkana. We will enjoy a romantic candlelight dinner. Accommodations for the night on board. All cabins have private toilet and outdoor view.
