The adventure will begin right after you check-in at Inkaterra Lounge (butterfly garden) in Puerto Maldonado. We will board a canoe and navigate through Madre de Dios river to Hacienda Concepción (approximately 25 minutes downstream). Buffet lunch. After lunch, we will walk through the natural footpaths of Concepción. Here, you will learn and discover about the primary and secondary forests, their components, their uses, the transformations made by men, and their importance for the world. At dusk, we will have a canoe ride excursion. We will sail through Madre de Dios river and learn about their ecosystems and creeks, as well as the behavior of nocturnal fauna and the southern constellations. At night, we will have dinner in the dining room.

Buffet breakfast. We will walk through Tambopata National Reserve to Lake Sandoval. We will learn about the reserve's preservation projects and the formation of this mirror-like lake, home to the giant otter, the blue and yellow macaw, the howler monkey, the black caiman and the paiche. We will return to the refuge right in time for lunch. In the afternoon, we will get ready for Inkaterra's Canopy walkway and Anaconda walk programs. A 20-minute ride by motorized canoe will take us to Inkaterra's Canopy Walkway Interpretation Center. We will go up one of the two 30-meter (95 ft) towers and walk along the 7 hanging bridges that connect the treetops. Enjoy the majestic landscape and take the chance to observe white-throated toucans, hummingbirds, trogons, squirrel monkeys and three-toed sloths. After we descend, we will continue our tour with a 30-minute walk along the 200-meter wooden bridge over the wetlands. Then, we will return to the refuge and have dinner.

A new day begins and after breakfast we will get ready for a new adventure. We will board a canoe and navigate through Hacienda Concepción's lake. We will try to fish like the locals using their own preservation techniques while admiring the landscape. We will observe animals like the hoatzin (also known as shanshos in Peru), diverse flycatchers and "unchalas". We will make a stop where lie the remains of steamboat Fitzcarraldo and learn about its history. We will return to Hacienda Concepción right in time for lunch. In the afternoon, we will go to the river's island known as “Rolin”. We will navigate by boat and then we will walk along the island, where we will learn about its floodable ecosystem and flora. We will have the opportunity to observe some birds. Later, we will walk 15-20 minutes to the "collpa" (native word for "clay river wall") of mammals. We will learn about the animal activity in the collpa and the difference between the collpas according to their location. We will look for footprints and evidence from agoutis, monkeys, peccaries, among others. We will return to the refuge to have a delicious dinner.

This may be your last day in this wonderful place, but adventures are still waiting for you. After breakfast, we will sail to Gamitana Creek to visit its model farm. We will learn about the communitarian projects of NGO Inkaterra Asociación (ITA) and the importance of agriculture in Madre de Dios as one of the region's most important economic activities. We will taste and fall in love with the fruits and crops in season. Then, we will return to the refuge while exploring the Amazonian rainforest and its fauna through the footpaths of Concepción. Lunch. Take advantage of your free afternoon to rest beside the river banks or sip a refreshing beverage in the bar. At night, we will explore the hidden jungle. We will walk through the jungle at night and spot animals that only emerge when dark tuning their senses to create new adaptation mechanisms. This will be a thrilling experience where you will be surrounded by the wonderful sounds of the living nature. We will end this day with a cozy dinner.

We will enjoy a delicious breakfast before checking out. We will board a motorized canoe to return to Puerto Maldonado, where we will visit Inkaterra Lounge (butterfly garden). Here, you will relax and wait for your flight back home or your next destination.
