Upon your arrival at Chiclayo, we will transfer you to the hotel of your choice.
16:30 hrs. We will visit the city's tourist attractions: Plaza de Armas (Chiclayo's main square), Santa María Cathedral, the Municipality (adorned with big windows and wrought iron doors), San Antonio Basilica, Santa Verónica church and Paseo de las Musas. We will observe some republican mansions and small squares; and walk through the city's main streets. After the city tour, we will go to Chiclayo's market, known as Mercado de los Brujos (literally, "Market of the Wizards"), where we will find numerous potions, herbs and others instruments used by shamans to perform their activities. This market is very attractive because it offers a wide range of herbs and objects used in traditional medicine or "shamanism", which is very popular in the region. After the visit, we will transfer you to your hotel. Accommodations for the night.
10:00 hrs. We will go to the archaeological site of Huaca Rajada, 35 km east of Chiclayo and 2 km away from the town of Sipán. Here we will visit its pyramid, the terrace and the museum in honor of the royalty and clergy of the Moche elite (200 - 700 B.C.). Here was also found the intact tomb of a member of the Moche elite. Because of its luxurious ornaments and the high level of cultural technological development, the discovery of this tomb was considered the most important archaeological finding of the century. We will visit its museum and the exploration excavations. Then we will visit Tucume, a large archaeological complex at the foothills of El Purgatorio or La Raya mountain, from where we will spot 25 pyramids. Once there, we will visit Huaca Las Estacas, the mirador, Huaca Larga, the museum, among other sites. Afterwards, we will visit the new modern Museum of Royal Tombs of Sipán, which houses 10 exhibition rooms, where you will see the remains of the Moche elite, who governed 1'700 years ago and adds a milestone in the country's history. You will have the opportunity to admire a wide collection of gold, silver and cooper pieces. At the end of the visit, we will transfer you to your hotel. Accommodations for the night.
11:00 hrs. We will visit Pimentel's bay, the most important port in the department. People come to surf, play beach volley, ride caballitos de totora (reed boats) and string fishing. In fact, some important competitions take place at Pimentel involving beach sports. Still, the bay preserves its traditional architecture, contemporary buildings, wide boardwalk and old port. The Caleta de Santa Rosa is popular for the presence of caballitos de totora. We will see the Sanctuary to Señor de los Milagros and Eten port. Then, we will head to the town of Monsefú, famous for its textiles made from straw and cotton threads. At Monsefú's crafts market, we will meet some of the many the craftsmen. At the agreed time, we will assist you during check out.
