Lima, commonly known as "The City of the Kings", is Peru's capital city. It is located in the central coastal part of the country, overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Some years after its founding in 1535, it became the most important metropolis in the Spanish America. Lima's climate is mild and fresh throughout the year. In summer (from December to March), temperatures are around 25º C (77° F). In winter, temperatures oscillate between 11° C (51.8° F) and 15° C (59° F). Today Lima is a modern metropolis. In fact, it is a center of trade and financial activities. It offers a wide variety of tourist attractions while keeping its essence from the colonial Spain. This is proven by its architecture, churches, balconies, museums and monasteries.
